Thinking green

At Ometa, we are grateful for the resources that nature offers us. This is why we have  invested in several measures to save energy and to be an environmentally friendly company. This is our way of  saying ‘thank you’ to Mother Nature.

  • Geothermal heat system

    Ometa has drilled four holes of each 100 meters into the earth and filled them with tubing. Glycol runs through these tubes and transports heat from the earth towards the internal heat pump. This way we use geothermal energy as an energy supply for our office during the cold days. During summer, the transportation of heat is reversed and stored back in the earth to keep the balance.

  • Server heat recuperation

    An IT company obviously needs servers to work with. A major disadvantage of these servers is that they lose a lot of energy in the form of heat. To be as energy efficient as possible, we pick up this energy, filter it with special air filters and transport it back into the company floor heating. Another clever way of being energy efficient.

  • Solar panels

    Our office roof  is fully equipped with high capacity solar panels. These solar panels are used to power the servers, which at their turn supply the office with heating.

  • Separate power circuits

    The entire office of Ometa has several power circuits including one special one: the circuit that is used for all non-critical electronic equipment. The company policy is to branch all equipment that doesn’t need power during non-office hours onto this circuit. In the office entrance we have one manual switch that is used by the last leaving employee to switch off all power. This way we save all unnecessary power used by switches, monitors, office lights, etc.

  • Hybrid car park

    Ometa employees drive a hybrid car.

  • Rain reservoirs

    Ometa stores rain in massive reservoirs for non-drinking use. The water is used to flush our toilets, clean our windows, water the plants, etc. As a result, we are able to save a large amount on our company’s water consumption.
